Overview
EasyWeather is a weather forecast app from Studio Duck. This policy explains what information the app and its supporting API handle when you use EasyWeather on iOS (and related builds).EasyWeather does not require an account. You can deny location access and still use the app with a default city and any places you search for and save.Data we collect
Depending on how you use the app, EasyWeather may process:- Approximate or precise device location, if you grant permission — used to show weather for your current suburb or place
- Places you search for and save (name, region/country, and coordinates)
- App preferences such as temperature unit and appearance theme
- Cached weather snapshots so forecasts can load quickly offline or between refreshes
- Technical request metadata when talking to our API (for example timestamps and the coordinates or place query needed to return weather)
We do not collect payment details, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers for tracking across apps. How we use APIs
Forecasts and place lookup are provided by the EasyWeather API and, when needed, public geocoding fallbacks. Typical requests:GET https://easyweather-api.mackerels.io/v1/weather
?latitude=…&longitude=…
GET https://easyweather-api.mackerels.io/v1/places/search
?q=…
- Weather API — receives latitude/longitude (and related place context) to return current conditions and the forecast. Upstream weather providers may be consulted by the API; responses may be cached (including Redis) to improve performance.
- Place search — search text is sent so the API can resolve cities and suburbs (including Australian locality data and controlled autocomplete). If the controlled route is unavailable, the app may fall back to Open-Meteo’s public geocoder.
- Reverse geocoding — if location is granted, coordinates may be sent to BigDataCloud’s client reverse-geocode endpoint to name your current place (preferring suburb/locality when available).
These network calls exist solely to deliver weather and place names. They are not used to build advertising profiles.On-device storage
Preferences, saved places, onboarding/location-prompt state, and recent weather snapshots are stored locally on your device (AsyncStorage). Clearing or deleting the app removes this local data.Sharing & retention
- We do not sell personal information.
- Service providers that power geocoding or weather may process the coordinates or search queries required to answer your request.
- Server-side caches and standard operational logs may retain request-related data for a limited time to operate and debug the API.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app.
Your choices
- Deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings — the app continues with a default place and any cities you save manually.
- Remove saved places inside the app.
- Delete the app to remove on-device preferences and caches.
